I told my personal sports consultant, the hubby, that I just didn’t get it and he then took the time to share with his sports-illiterate wife the story of Pete Frates… the inspirational former athlete who started it all. Intrigued, I wanted to know a little more and I looked up the clip that ESPN aired on him. You can watch it here…. if you are a skeptic like I was, it just might change your perspective.  Pete and his family had been traveling around trying to spread awareness about ALS {also known as the Lou Gehrig disease}, one speech at a time, but it just wasn’t enough. They wanted to do more, they wanted to see more results. And this challenge did exactly that! Pete and his family inspired ACTION! A visual representation of support for this disease that has yet to be cured. By extending the “24-hour” time limit, the chance to donate was offered and many individuals, teams, and companies are donating JUST BECAUSE they are inspired by all of this. That’s the category The Dating Divas fit into.  You see, I do not personally know anyone who is dealing with this disease, yet this completely inspired me one I heard about his story. I am SO impressed with the power of one, so impressed with the change and the good this one man is doing, that he earned my respect and inspired me to take action. Never, ever underestimate the power of one!  You wanna know one MORE thing that inspired me? Pete Frates’ love story!! He met his sweet wife 8 months prior to being diagnosed. The clip of them walking down the aisle together melted my heart. Love is so powerful… and I’m a hopeless romantic, so seeing those two together sealed the deal. And THAT, my friends, is why I decided to freeze my bootie off, in addition to donating $100.

Nominated by Danielle of Today Is The Best Day, I in turn, am nominating my cute friend Cara, found of Maskcara, ALL THREE of the ever-so-talented Crafting Chicks, and my adorable assistant Chrissy.  If/when they post their videos… I’ll link up to them below. Stay tuned!  Here’s to hoping for a brighter future and great strides towards finding a cure.  If you would like to donate toward ALS research, please click over to ALSA.org.  #IceBucketChallenge #StrikeOutALS
